2017 Boys Season Recap

On Wednesday, Seth/Chandler advanced to the individual sectional finals by defeating the #1 Doubles team from Winchester HS 6-1, 6-4.  They will play Alexandria’s All-State doubles team for the championship.

On Wednesday, we played #28 Marion in the sectional.  We played very well and with a lot of energy and enthusiasm.  Seth/Chandler won in straight sets and Paxton won in a 3rd set match.  We did not go down without a good fight…..just came up a little short.  The players represented Mississinewa very, very well!!!

On Tuesday, we traveled to Yorktown, where we met #15 Cathedral for a match.  Paxton was our only winner, even though we fought hard and made the Irish earn the team victory.  This match should help us in the state tournament.

On Monday, we honored the seniors during our match vs Muncie Burris.  The seniors led the way in our 5-0 win!  They have given so much to our program.  We could not have been as successful without them.

On Thursday, we traveled to #7 Avon to face the Orioles.  The team was out-skilled by a strong opponent.  Paxton played a long match and came up just short with a 3rd set tie-break loss…soooo close.  We hope this match will help us during the state tourney.

On Wednesday, we hosted Frankton for our last conference match of the season.  We were excited to play for the championship.  Paxton gave us a 1-0 lead with a quick victory, Isaac played very well also to extend the lead to 2-0, Conner and then Seth/Chandler followed soon after to give us a 4-0 lead before we dropped the 2D position.  This allowed us to be repeat champs!  Way to go guys! …back to back titles!

On Wednesday, we traveled to Elwood to play another CIC team.  Everyone played well in our 5-0 victory.  It was another chance for us to play Seth and Paxton together and give Chandler another singles match.  This win keeps us undefeated in the conference and moves us to 11-4 overall.  The four losses were only to state-ranked teams.

On Monday, we traveled to Alexandria to play one of the top contenders for the conference championship.  Paxton and Isaac gave us an early 2-0 lead.  Conner came back from being down late in the first set to secure the team win.  This was a big win for us!

On Saturday, we hosted Northeastern.  The team played pretty well in its 5-0 victory…it was a good day!

On Saturday, we faced off against three state-ranked opponents in the FW Carroll Invitational.  We did not play well as a team in any of the matches.  Paxton went 2-1 on the day with his only defeat coming on a super tie-break with #5 Homestead.  Great job, Paxton!

On Thursday, we hosted Blackford for another conference match.  We blanked the Bruins in four of the five varsity spots, in the 5-0 win.

On Wednesday, we hosted Madison Grant for our first conference match of the season.  Isaac, Conner, and Paxton provided us an early lead blanking their opponents.  Mason and Josiah also won their match.  Ethan won a jv singles match.

On Tuesday, we hosted #24 Marion.  After a rain delay, we competed with the Giants but were to able to capture the close sets.  Paxton won a close match to give us our only point.

On Thursday, we traveled, again to Kokomo.  This time to face off against Northwestern.  The singles players did not give up a single game and both doubles won in straight sets.

On Tuesday, we traveled to Western, where it is always tough to win.  Paxton gave us an early lead.  After Western’s tough #1S player tied the team score, Conner and Seth/Chandler won tough tightly contested matches to give us the team win.  Mason/Josiah dropped a third set match.

On Monday, we hosted Bluffton.  We were pleased with the 4-1 win, dropping only a 6-4 3rd set match at 2D.  Way to play, Olemiss!

On Thursday, we traveled to Kokomo.  We came away with a 3-2 win.  We were up 3-1 while 2S moving into a 3rd set tie-break.  2-0!

On Saturday, we traveled to Adams Central.  The match went down to the wire….we captured the 3rd point with a 6-4 3rd set at 2S.  We reached our goal of 3-0 for the week!
