2018 PRACTICE/MATCH SCHEDULE

Coaches Corner

On Thursday, we played in the sectional championship against #29 Marion.  It was not as dramatic as the a few weeks ago but with the score tied 2-2 and #1 doubles still playing, there was still hope to capture the crown.  Just missing on several opportunities, we dropped the match 3-2.  We came up short but did not back down.  What a great season, filled with so many great experiences that will pay off greatly in the future.  We will not graduate any seniors.

On Wednesday, we played Blackford in the first round of the state tournament.  The 5-0 win moved us to the next round to face #29 Marion.

On Saturday, we played #19 Avon at Mt Vernon HS.  Conner came away with a nice win over their 1S player.  This was another match that should help us prepare for the state tournament, which starts Wednesday at Marion HS.

On Wednesday, we travelled to Frankton to play our final conference patch of the season.  The 4-1 win gave us an undefeated CIC season and our third straight conference title!

On Saturday, we played in the Homestead Invitational that included 5 ranked opponents.  We finished 7th of 8 teams.  Hayden defeated #21 Concord and #26 Penn before losing to #2 Homestead in the finals of 3Singles position.

On Thursday, we advanced our record to 4-1 with a 6-0 victory over Northwestern.  This was the first time all season we played a team younger than us.  A total of 9 freshmen played in this match.  We played well…it was a good day for Olemiss!

On Wednesday, we continued play from our suspended match with Western.  We were not as sharp with our play but came away with a 4-1 win.

On Tuesday, we got off to a great start against Western before the rain prevented us from finishing.  When play stopped we had completed the first sets on three different courts, capturing all three.

On Saturday, We defeated Kokomo 3-2….It was a big win for us as a team.  This ended a great day of tennis…the players were pushed physically and mentally throughout the day and responded well!

On Saturday, we lost 3-2 to an experienced Adams Central squad.  They pushed us to our limits…Their experience paid benefits in the closely contested match.

On Thursday, we traveled to Lapel to scrimmage.  The boys learned a lot during the scrimmage.  It will help as we start our matches on Monday.

Individually, players go through up and down times during the course of an entire season.  The support they feel from different places helps minimize the “down” times and strengthens the positive experiences they gain from being a part of the team.  Please encourage the players to stay focused.
